This paper presents the aerodynamic design of a LH2 powered strut-braced wing aircraft developed within the Clean Aviation ACAP and UPWING projects. The study focuses on wing planform definition and refined aerodynamic design issues, including wing–strut interaction, junction design, and transonic airfoil development. Finally, an adjoint-based optimization approach is applied, and the aerodynamic performance of the optimized configuration is assessed using a far-field drag decomposition method to quantify the benefits of the concept.
