A Geometric Integrator Based on the Double Bracket Structure for Coupled Thermo-Elastodynamics

The Double Bracket Structure is a unified variational formulation for the thermodynamics of continuous media, encoding the verification of conservation principles (conservation of momentum, angular momentum, first and second laws of thermodynamics). This contribution first presents the equations of the Double Bracket Structure for small strain coupled thermo-elastodynamics. We then derive its discrete formulation and provide an example of derivation of an integration scheme from the Double Bracket Structure. Numerical examples are given.
