The hydraulic fracture(HF) is a very powerful stimulation technique for the shale reservoir. The shale reservoir contains numerous horizontal bedding planes. Whether a HF can penetrate through a bedding plane(BP) and in what degree the HF can activate the BP are significantly important for the assessment of hydraulic fracturing treatment design. So, the interaction between HF and BP is a very important issue. To more effectively simulate their interaction behaviours, a hydromechanical coupling irreversible sliding interface model is proposed for the BP at first. With this model, both the plastic shear sliding of BP and the hydromechanical coupling fracturing process can be well simulated. Next, by using this model, the interaction behaviours between HF and BP are comprehensively studied. The research results provide valuable reference for the design of hydraulic fracturing treatment for shale reservoir.
