Applications of the New CFD Software by ONERA, DLR, AIRBUS (CODA) and its Algorithmic Differentiation Framework in Aero-Structure Optimization: Status and Way Forward

The next generation of CFD software is being developed by ONERA, DLR and AIRBUS (CODA). One of the outstanding features of CODA, especially for its use in the context of optimization, is its algorithmic differentiation (AD) capability. Furthermore, the DLR and its partners are continuously developing a gradient-based MDAO suite in multidisciplinary feasibility formulation (MDF) applying RANS-based computational fluid dynamics (CFD) solvers. This presentation provides an overview of the current optimization capabilities using the CODA AD framework in combination with the LAGRANGE optimization framework from AIRBUS Defence and Space.
