This study presents the calibration and experimental validation of a fast, reduced finite element model designed to predict metal deposit geometries in additive manufacturing. This approach simplifies the melt pool dynamics by modeling the free surface as a membrane in mechanical equilibrium. The results demonstrate the model's predictive capacity and robustness, achieving a high degree of precision.
