The angular contact ball bearing (ACBB) is of great importance in modern industry. Its supporting property, i.e., contact zone and contact force is the kernel to investigate its load capacity. In this research, mechanical model of the ACBB bearing is set up. Due to the lack of consideration of both mathematics and physics aspects of the load distribution problem of ACBB bearings, the existing solving methods are not effective sometimes.Among all these methods, the Classic method proposed by A. B. Jones and developed by T. A. Harris[1] is the most important one. From the mechanical principle of the Classic method, one can find that the load distribution problem is mainly boiled down to a mathematical issue, which leads to a fact that the solution based on this method may converge in mathematics while it may not abide by laws of physics. If the solution is not sound in physics, the calculation must be repeated with a new group of initial values. Unfortunately, the attempt is futile in most cases. It is because that the Classic method uses the iterative method, to search the solution. Nevertheless, the calculation based on the iterative method usually converges to the same solution when the initial evaluation is in a specific interval. Therefore, the repeating numerical trial aiming to getting access to a new convergent solution is usually unavailing. In order to overcome the disadvantages of the Classic method and improve the calculating efficiency, a novel computational method called virtual contact method (VCM) is put forward in the present work. According to the comparison of results by the proposed method and results from the reference literature, it manifests that the VCM method is effective. Then the supporting property of the ACBB bearing is researched and discussed.
