An additive split of internal forces for the design of load-carrying behavior of frame structures

This contribution presents a novel approach for facilitating a goal-oriented design of the load-carrying behavior of frame structures. In particular, an additive split of internal forces into a stiffness-ratio-independent part and a stiffness-ratio-dependent part [1, 2] is presented. Aspects regarding robustness of frame structures are focused. The relevance for structural design is showcased by examples.
